Welcome CS pips!

Time truly moves so fast. Who would have thought that Computer Science program of Cor Jesu College already produced ten (10) batches? I am a bit privileged to witness the evolution of the Computer Science program being a product of the 2nd batch and also employed, still, in Cor Jesu College. Thirteen (13) years ago, 1996, was the opening year of the CS program. Thirteen years perhaps is not really that long, as to compare it with the other programs of Cor Jesu, and yet it is already truly very fruitful knowing that plenty of our alumni have already become significant icons in their respective organizations, by playing significant roles and positions- both local and international industries. Personally, I am so proud of you because the fruits of your labor, your success, and commitment to excellence will forever be a living inspiration to everyone of us especially those who will still be soon produced by Cor Jesu College’s Computer Studies Department. More so, in most special way, you make your Alma Mater, Cor Jesu College, so proud of you for carrying out with you the true essence of being excellent disciples to the community (your immediate environment). Young as we are, yet Computer Science program already manifests remarkable footprints in the race.

IT or non-IT related endeavors we are into this time, I believe that Cor Jesu College truly had helped us shaped our lives. Remember, that being Computer Science graduates we had been prepared for whatever combat we meet along the way: carrying the tatak CS, the tatak SURVIVORS! The discipline, values/attitude, and principles we learned will forever be within us and be applied to whatever fields of endeavor we choose to go into.

On September 26, 2009, a Grand Alumni Homecoming will take place in Cor Jesu College in celebration of Cor Jesu’s Golden Jubilee (50 years). Needless to belabor how lucky are we to witness and be part of this momentous event because witnessing its centennial (next 50th) celebration is practically uncertain for us. Alumni (Elementary, High School, and College) from 1960 up to the present are expected to come. It will surely be a joyful moment of sharing, reminiscing, and playing. There will be activities like, ball games, parlor games, and socio-cultural activities at night. With all these, I wish to invite everyone in our program, Computer Science, to mark that date and join us in the celebration. It is one way of showing back to our Alma Mater our gratitude for shaping our lives.

As expected, a gathering like this needs a certain degree of generosity. The success of this event significantly relies on the generous hearts of the Alumni. There will be a registration fee of only P200.00 which covers already the pack-meal for dinner and raffle entry ticket. Tickets are now available at the Computer Studies Office.

For this year, the Engineering and Technology Department will host the event. The Computer Studies is, by the way, separated already from the Engineering, and now as a full-blown department (with BSCS and BSIT programs). As a department, we are in-charged with the DRINKS for the event: from water to Beers, for the expected 3,000 alumni. Other departments also have assignments like: lechons, sea foods, fruits, etc. I am happy to inform that as of this time a few of our CS alumni already have committed their service, support, and contributions for our Committee. Nevertheless, I am still appealing to all of you, my brothers and sisters in the Computer Science program, for your generous heart, to share a portion of your God-given blessings and graces as our Committee truly still needs a significant amount for our role. In great faith we know, that God blesses us more when we share to others, of course especially to Cor Jesu College which had helped us in a special way. We really need everybody’s help in the CS program this time. For your pledges, you may see me in the Computer Studies Department Office or email at: sarceboy@yahoo.com or call me at +63 82 553-2433 local 119, to arrange the ways and means you can extend to us your help/contributions.

Above all, we also would like to emphasize that your presence is very significant for the success of the event. Come, let’s join!

After the finalization of the activities, I will be posting the program of activities here for everybody’s reference. And, any contribution that the Committee receives, it will be posted here (see below) also. We are hoping that if your generous heart wishes to share, it would just be not later than Sept 15, 2009. God bless you guys! Mabuhay CS people! See you!
